Porsche Australia not worried about penalties from emissions standards
Porsche is known for its petrol-powered sports cars, but it’s banking on its growing range of electric cars to hold it in good stead when new fuel efficiency standards hit Australia.
Porsche Australia boss Daniel Schmollinger told media the brand is “comfortable” with its position if the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) rolls out as proposed by the Federal Government.
“With our electrification strategy – 80 per cent electric by 2030 – I think we will be in a good position,” Mr Schmollinger said.
Porsche already offers the electric Taycan in Australia, and will later this year introduce an electric…

Can dealerships force you to finance?
A Kitchener, Ont. woman discovered that some dealerships didn’t want her cash while shopping for a new car.
Sharon Tanti had her sights set on a vehicle at a Guelph dealership. But she was faced with a roadblock when she went to pay for it in cash.
“The guy was like ‘what’s this?’ And I’m like ‘payment for the car,’” said Tanti, recalling a conversation with the salesman.
She says she told her she had to finance the vehicle.
“He’s like ‘you can’t do that. We get money when we finance the cars.’ And I’m like ‘that’s not my problem,’”…
Amazon announces online car sales for the first time, starting with Hyundai
Starting next year, you’ll be able to buy a car on Amazon for the first time. The company announced a deal with Hyundai that will allow dealerships to sell cars through the site.
Previously, customers could browse car showrooms and compare prices on Amazon but not actually buy a car. That will change next year when several Hyundai dealers start to list models for sale on the site.
Customers can browse cars on the site and make a purchase using their preferred payment methods. They can then choose to pick the car up at a nearby dealership or have it…
Cox Automotive Forecast: US Auto Sales Expected to Finish 2023 Up More Than 11% Year Over Year, as General Motors Retains Top Spot, Hyundai Motor Group Jumps Past Stellantis
ATLANTA, Dec. 27, 2023 – December new-vehicle sales, announced next week, are expected to show gains over last year’s product-constrained market. However, it reflects a slight decline from last month’s 15.3 million level and matches the lowest SAAR of the year, which was recorded in May.
According to Charlie Chesbrough, senior…
There Are New Car Deals to Be Had This Memorial Day
For the past few years, new-car prices have obviously been climbing, so it’s nice to learn that there are some traditional Memorial Day deals out there this year.
With the pandemic fading away and the related supply-chain problems sorting themselves out, we’re back to perks like low financing offers and factory discounts.
The best deals available knock around 10 percent off the price of the car but don’t expect that kind of sale on everything on the lot.
For years, Memorial Day has been in the rotation for holidays that often come with deals at local car dealerships. It’s the…
Car Deals Are Easier to Find but Lenders Are Tightening Their Terms
New cars are more available this spring, and manufacturers have even begun offering deals to interested buyers.
But at the same time, lenders have been tightening the terms of car loans as they deal with a rising number of delinquencies. That has made it harder for some people to get affordable loans.
Access to auto loans for both new and used cars was generally worse in January than in December and down year over year, according to Dealertrack, a Cox Automotive service that tracks credit availability based on factors like loan approvals, terms and down payments. The impact was seen…
