Amazon plans to begin allowing Hyundai dealers to sell new vehicles on its platform, launching the e-commerce giant into the lucrative but highly competitive car market for the first time.

Why it matters: Amazon’s sheer e-commerce heft means the company must immediately be taken seriously in the automotive retail space.

Driving the news: Amazon announced its plans Thursday during the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, and said Hyundai would be the “first” brand to sell cars on the platform.

  • Customers will be able to search based on model, trim, color and other features, while also choosing payment and financing options.
  • As part of their deal, Hyundai will begin incorporating Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant into its vehicles beginning in 2025.

The best new Audi models coming by 2026: all you need to know

New Audi models coming in 2024

Audi will be launching quite a few new EVs this year, with the highly anticipated Q6 e-tron making its debut and the A6 e-tron coming soon after. There will also be a few new petrol-engines cars, and the brand’s naming structure is getting a shake up as well.

New Audi A3 and S3

The Audi A3 was one of the top 10 best-selling cars in February 2024, and the ever-popular hatchback has been given a mid-life facelift to keep it looking fresh in the face of the Mercedes A-Class and BMW 1 Series. In addition to the lightly revised styling, the A3 has been given some interior tweaks.

You now get a slightly different dashboard design, as well as a smaller gear selector and a tied-up center console. Audi’s 10.25-inch digital driver’s display now comes as standard, and the infotainment system is running new and improved software.

The warmed-up Audi S3 will also be getting a makeover at a later date, as well as the full-fat RS3. You can expect to see more power and a re-tuned gearbox in both cars.

New Audi Q6 e-tron

The highly anticipated Audi Q6 e-tron is finally here,

Is now the right time to buy a new or used vehicle?

Is now the right time to buy a vehicle, or is it wiser to wait until the auto market finishes cooling down?

After the pandemic, the market experienced new vehicle shortages and a surge in prices for used vehicles.

Today, it appears that prices for both new and used vehicles are stabilizing. Moving into 2024, prospective vehicle buyers could see a more favorable market, with increased inventory options to choose from and reduced prices for both new and used vehicles.

Whether you’re eyeing a brand-new model or looking to buy a pre-owned vehicle, I’ll explain the current state of Canada’s auto market and what could lie ahead.

How the pandemic affected the auto market

The pandemic severely disrupted the auto industry’s supply chains, leading to production slowdowns and inventory shortages, which was exacerbated by the ensuing chip shortage.

As we emerged from the pandemic, there was a notable improvement in these supply chains, setting the stage for a gradual recovery of the North American auto sector, including Canadian production.

In early 2023, we see a rise in Canadian vehicle sales, indicating signs of recovery. However, the market could still face resistance, with sales volumes expected to lag behind pre-pandemic levels

FTC’s CARS Rule: Why a new rule to combat auto retail scams is great news for consumers and honest dealers

In the drive toward Combating Aauto Retail Scams, the FTC’s just-announced CARS Rule is a big win for consumers, who lose billions of dollars in wasted time and money each year to illegal practices like bait-and-switch tactics and junk fees. It’s also a big win for honest car dealers who strive to apply established truth-in-car-buying principles at their dealerships and shouldn’t have to compete against dealers who don’t. Why is the CARS Rule such a game changer and what compliance guidance does the FTC have for industry members? Read on for more information.

The CARS Rule is the culmination of a years-long effort to ensure truth and transparency in the process of buying and leasing cars and trucks. The FTC published a proposed rule last year and received thousands of comments from dealers, consumer groups, and others. Based on what commenters had to say and the FTC’s law enforcement efforts to combat auto retail scams, the CARS Rule restates consumer protection established principles in clear language specific to the auto industry and includes new remedies if a car dealer engages in certain deceptive or unfair practices .

By stating clear rules of the road that apply

US new vehicle sales rise 12% as buyers shake off high prices, interest rates, and auto strikes

DETROIT (AP) — Undeterred by high prices, rising interest rates, autoworker strikes and a computer-chip shortage that slowed assembly lines, American consumers still bought 15.6 million new vehicles last year, 12% more than in 2022, the biggest increase in more than a decade.

Yet sales still haven’t returned to the 17 million rate in the years before the pandemic, and there are signs of a cooling market as buyers aren’t as willing to pay astronomical prices that dealers and manufacturers were charging just months ago.

“You see the consumer making a concerted effort to ensure that they’re getting the best price possible,” said Jonathan Chariff, CEO of South Automotive Group, a 10-dealership group in the Miami area. “They basically feel that this is the right time to buy from a perspective of being able to get the discounts.”

Average auto sales prices peaked in December of 2022 just over $47,300, with vehicles in short supply due to the global chip shortage that limited production. Some dealers were able to charge over the sticker price to buyers who needed a new ride or had the money to get one.

But the chip shortage gradually eased last year to the point where

Ask Anthony helps couple whose business was hit by cars

After Ask Anthony featured the business owner, Joe Carlucci toured the property to see what kind of barriers could be installed to prevent future crashes.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Ask Anthony team is getting results after a Jacksonville business reached out with a problem they couldn’t solve.

William and Vicky Marcal help run their family company called “Duval Finest Countertops” on Emerson Street near Downtown Jacksonville. They moved into the building five years ago.

The Marcal siblings said cars have crashed into the building about six times in the past two years. They weren’t done repairing the building from the first accident, before another car crashed just a few weeks ago.

“The speeding is the main thing. They come so fast around the corner that they can’t control that one little curve and it’s causing them to hit the building every time,” explained Vicky Marcal.

After their story aired on First Coast Newsa Jacksonville City Councilman picked up the phone and called Anthony Austin.

“I’ve already talked to traffic engineering. I’ve already talked to a public works director. They are very open to coming out here with me next and looking at what the site allows for,” City Councilman
