Suzuki secured 619 vehicle orders during the five-day GIIAS Surabaya 2026 exhibition, with the New Suzuki Carry accounting for more than half of those sales. The August event drew approximately 6,000 visitors to the automotive show, where the Japanese manufacturer posted strong numbers despite ongoing challenges in the broader car market.
Carry Dominates Sales Mix
The commercial vehicle segment proved to be Suzuki’s strongest performer at the exhibition. The New Suzuki Carry alone contributed 51 percent of total orders, demonstrating continued demand for affordable workhorses among Surabaya buyers. The New Suzuki XL7 followed as the second-best seller with a 15 percent share of the order total.
Context Behind the Numbers
This year’s exhibition benefited from stable conditions that were absent during the 2025 edition. Organizers worked to ensure the 2026 event ran smoothly without such disruptions.

The 619 orders represent a meaningful recovery for Suzuki’s presence in East Java. Suzuki’s local distribution arm, UMC, noted that sales momentum in the province has been building steadily.
Fronx Captures Attention
While the Carry led in sales volume, the Suzuki Fronx drew significant foot traffic to the booth. The model accounted for 11 percent of total orders and claimed the “Most Driven ICE Passenger Car” award from exhibition organizers. Suzuki recorded 146 test drive sessions during the show.
The Fronx SGX Kuro Edition proved particularly popular among visitors, adding visual appeal to the crossover’s standard features. Suzuki has been expanding its passenger car offerings in Indonesia as consumer preferences shift toward higher-riding vehicles, and the Fronx appears well-positioned within that strategy.

Booth traffic remained high throughout the exhibition, with representatives reporting sustained interest from opening to closing each day. The combination of established models like the Carry and newer entries like the Fronx gave Suzuki a balanced lineup capable of addressing different buyer priorities.
Looking at Market Reception
The results validate Suzuki’s product planning decisions for the East Java market. Bringing an appropriately sized lineup that matched local mobility needs proved more effective than simply showcasing the full national catalog. Surabaya buyers have demonstrated a preference for vehicles that serve specific purposes rather than multi-role compromises.
Competition remains intense among manufacturers targeting the value-conscious segment. The strong GIIAS showing provides momentum heading into the final quarter.
